Prioritymandatory
DescriptionThe SPICE platform must be able to aggregate and to interpret information from multiple distributed context sources. The SPICE platform must be able to gather any type of context information ("raw / sensor data", "low order information", "higher order information") from multiple context sources without any end-user interaction. Moreover, this information must be used to infer new knowledge in order to add "intelligence" to services. Hence the SPICE platform must be able to derive knowledge from context information. Reasoner components using internal different algorithms are supported and should be facilitated to be plugged in at run-time.Knowledge refers to all information that can be used to provide contextual recommendations or proactive services. The resulting system must be dynamic, scalable, and loosely coupled.
RationaleThe functionality described above is required so that "intelligence" may be added to services in order to enable them to act / to be "context-aware".Knowlege sources feed contextual information into the SPICE platform either by supplying sensor data, or by processing information provided by other context sources. Each knowledge source provides a single type of context information, such as location, network status, or end-user presence. Multiple knowledge sources providing the same type of information may coexist. Each knowledge source must provide type data for all information that it provides that links to a shared ontology. Each Knowledge Source can use its own internal mechanisms to derive knowledge.
